EVANGELISM FOR THE REST OF US  -  WEEK 1

LUKE 15

LATERAL THINKING

You can move someone toward Christ by…CHANGING YOUR THINKING!

1)  Thinking Like the ____________________________

Don’t Stop _________________________

            Do                                                           It Takes

2)  Thinking Like the ______________________

            Understand ___________________________

Search __________________________

3)  Thinking Like the _______________________________

            Paying Close _____________________________

            Always ___________________________

            Actively Demonstrating ______________________________

THIS WEEK:

 1)     Begin to see people as “MISSING” rather than “LOST” and foster the hope that God will recover them…and realize He wants you to help Him.

  2) See
all people as INFINITELY VALUABLE.  Avoid looking at people as groups and see individual people that God has created and loves as deeply as He loves you.

  3) Attentively
watch and pray for THOSE GOD MISSES MOST.  Look for ways that you can love and serve them…and celebrate each step on their journey home.

LATERAL THINKING

You can move someone toward Christ by…CHANGING YOUR THINKING!

What’s the big criticism of Jesus?  He is welcoming sinners and eating with them.

It wasn’t so much the wickedness of the “sinners” that made it wrong to eat with them, but their failure to observe the traditions of their elders—their “uncleanness” according to the Law of Moses.

1)  Thinking Like the SHEPHERD

Don’t Stop LOOKING

Understands the great cost at which these sheep were obtained.

9/11—“Missing” vs. “Lost”

God understands the great cost at which humanity was redeemed, thus he persistently to search for those He misses most

            Do WHATEVER It Takes

The Shepherd puts the missing sheep on his shoulders and carries it home

God does the work of bringing us home

Viewing people as “missing” and not “lost”—fosters hope

2)  Thinking Like the WIFE

            Understand VALUE

Part of dowry

                        Irreplaceable

Search CAREFULLY

Searches everywhere and searches with care—as to not overlook it, as not to push it out of reach

God understands the immeasurable value of each individual person and carefully searches for those He misses most.

    Avoid “Us/Them” Thinking

3)  Thinking Like the FATHER

            Paying Close ATTENTION

Watching all the details of the horizon…

            Always AVAILABLE

Waiting for his son to come home; ready to meet him

                        2 Peter 3:9

            Actively Demonstrating COMPASSION

Runs to his son; embraces him; forgives mistakes; celebrates his homecoming

Redemption is a journey, not a mere impulse or emotion.

THIS WEEK:

1) Begin to see people as “MISSING” rather than “LOST” and foster the hope that God will recover them…and realize He wants you to help Him.

2) See all people as INFINITELY VALUABLE.  Avoid looking at people as groups and see individual people that God has created and loves as deeply as He loves you.

3) Attentively watch and pray for THOSE GOD MISSES MOST.  Look for ways that you can love and serve them…and celebrate each step on their journey home
