Seven Last Sayings of Jesus from the Cross

            --What do the Scriptures describe about where you are right now?

                        …Jesus relates His life to God’s Word

…To understand what Jesus is saying you have to consider the whole Psalm 

…Where do you relate to the Scriptures?  What in them touches on your life right now?

            --How do the Scriptures define your daily life?

                        …You have access to a book which will bring your whole life into focus

…Jesus had confidence based on God’s Word and committed Himself to God (Matthew4:3-4)

1.         What is on of the silliest quarrels or arguments between people you have heard of?

2.         When Henry David Thoreau was asked if he was prepared to make peace with God, he replied:   I never knew we had quarreled.   When do you first realize your relationship with God wasn’t right?

3.         On the Cross, Jesus quotes the opening line of Psalm 22.  Read Psalm 22, watching for the foreshadowing of the Cross.

4.         What are the different ways you see the Cross reflected in this Psalm?

5.         The Psalmist has two attitudes in this Psalm, what are they?  How are these reflective of how you feel sometimes?

6.         Was Christ forsaken by God?  Consider these verses:  Isaiah 53:4, 10

7.         Look at verses 1-6.  How does the writer see himself?  How does he see God?  How does he see God’s faithfulness?

8.         Read verses 6-8.  How does this compare to Philippians 2:5-8.

9.         Read verses 19-31.  How does this compare to Philippians 2:9-11.

10.       What can you learn about obedience from Christ on the Cross?  What does type of obedience look like in the life of a Christian?

11.       When you feel forsaken, what can you learn from the example of Christ?  What is to be learned about God’s faithfulness?

12.       When you are faithful and obedient, looking at the end of Psalm 2, what might some of the results be?

13.       What is an area in your life where you need to be more obedient or look for God’s faithfulness?

14.       What is one thing you can do this week to take a step in that direction?

15.       If you are willing share what you will do and pray together for one another that you will results in your life in this area.
