NOTE:
We may have been raised by
grandparents, aunt/uncle, foster parents…someone other than
our biological
parents. Remember,
we are all a child of
someone. The focus
of our discussion is
not on how we can get our children to obey us or honor
us…but our
responsibility as children of our “parents” and of
God.
5) Who are children to obey?
6) According to this passage, what is the scope of obedience? What does this imply about parents and children?
7) What makes a child’s obedience “right”?
8) What is the difference between obedience and honor?
9) What are the results of obeying and honoring?
11) Who are we ultimately seeking to obey and honor? How do we accomplish this by obeying and honoring earthly “parents”?
12) What impact could obedience and honor have on your family? On the Kingdom of God?
13) What is one way you are going to honor your parent-figure this week?
