Lesson One: Introducing the Helper
1.
The Holy Spirit
is necessary:
--To
be saved
--To
live the Christian life
--To
know God’s power
--To
understand God’s Word
--To
be transformed into Christ’s image
--For
Christ to be more than history, but to be your life
2.
The Holy Spirit
is not just a doctrine, but the person of God.
He
is a real person
He has intellect…Romans 8:27
He has emotions…Ephesians 4:30
He acts with purpose…1 Corinthians 12:11
He
speaks His thoughts to others…Acts 13:2
He can be sinned against….Matthew
When
you have a relationship with God, you have a relationship with the Holy Spirit.
3.
The Holy Spirit
is God
He
is all-knowing….Isaiah 40:13; 1 Corinthians 2:2
He
is omnipresent…Psalm 139:7
He
is all-powerful….Job 33:4; Psalm 104:30
4.
The victorious
Christian life cannot be lived apart from Him
He
lives within the believer.
The
unbeliever does not know this benefit.
You have to be the right creature to
receive His help
5.
Holy Spirit
At
Creation, Genesis 1:2
Conceived
Jesus in Mary, Matthew 1
Makes
one a Christian, Romans 8:9
He

He
restrains sin in the world
6.
Remember the book
of Acts is descriptive, not prescriptive in explaining the Holy Spirit.
…God
delays the giving of the Spirit in Acts to some, in order to maintain a unity
between the Gentiles and the Jews
--This brought unity and established the
Apostles’ authority
…To
be belong to Christ you must have the Holy Spirit, Rom. 8:9
